All 2021 YCSC graduates are now eligible to apply for the Education Is Forever Scholarship and Mentorship Program for the opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship and be paired with a mentor.
On March 18, 2021, our Palmdale site at Antelope Valley YouthBuild hosted a virtual CAP (Community Action Project) called "Beauty from Ashes: A Virtual Empowerment Summit." If you missed the event, we recorded the Zoom and edited a video together, so you can check it out!
YCSC Statement Against Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders
At YouthBuild Charter School of California, we formally oppose any and all forms of racism, xenophobia, and intolerance against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
After a complete review of the ongoing global concerns of both the spread of COVID-19 and of the extensive survey input from all stakeholders, the YouthBuild Charter School of California Board of Directors has decided to continue with Distance Learning during Trimester 3 of the 20/21 school year. Please read our statement on the insurrection that took place at the US Capitol on January 6th, 2021. As a school, we know that our ultimate goal is to prepare our students to take their rightful place as leaders in their communities and in the world. This requires all of us as educators to convert moments like what happened on 1/6/21 into teachable moments from which to prepare valuable leadership lessons for our students.

This issue features teacher highlights from their experiences attending NCTE 2020, a virtual conference held in November. It also introduces our newest English teacher, Robert Montes. Help the Education is Forever Scholarship Fund raise $5,000 by the end of the year!
