Interview with Gabrielle Calhoun
Gabriel is a March 2022 graduate from our San Bernardino site at YouthBuild Inland Empire.
Q: What brought you to YouthBuild Charter School of California?
Gabrielle: I went back to school to get my high school diploma so I can be an example to my five children and let them know how important education is and also to pursue a career.

Q: What did you like most about your YouthBuild experience?
Gabrielle: There's many things I liked about YouthBuild, but the things I liked most were that they're helpful and the teachers are awesome.
Q: Who or what helped motivate you to graduate?
Gabrielle: My children motivated me. They push me to do better. I wanted my children to learn that we are going to have obstacles come our way, but in spite of those obstacles, you never give up, you push forward. They saw their mama push hard and endure and sacrifice these last two years. Thank you also to Mr. Jones, Ms. Dee and Mrs. Mary Jane for all their support.
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
Gabrielle: My future goal is to go to college to get my AA degree in human services to become either a social worker or a youth counselor.
