Our Relationship With YouthBuild USA
About YouthBuild:
YouthBuild USA is a community-based non-profit that provides education, counseling and job training to young people ages 16 to 24 who have previously dropped out or been pushed out of high school. The core elements to every YouthBuild program are: education, construction and other career pathways, support services, leadership development, alumni success, and love. How we work with YouthBuild programs:
YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC) exists not as a stand-alone school, but rather as a school within a YouthBuild program. The school was launched and continues to be supported by the national organization YouthBuild USA in response to California YouthBuild programs’ need for a robust high school diploma-based education option for their students. Because of the school’s partnership with local YouthBuild programs, YCSC students receive not only a great education and the opportunity to earn their high school diploma, but also counseling and social wrap-around services, job training, college and career readiness, community service opportunities, and leadership development.
YCSC’s students are between 16-24 years old, yet they are allowed to re-enroll in the K-12 school because they are a part of a YouthBuild program. The California Department of Education allows for this through an exemption that is written into Education Code.
