  Helen Lopez, a 2020 graduate from our campus at RUTH YouthBuild in Canoga Park, shared her YouthBuild story with us during our Virtual Spring 2021 PD. Helen's story helped inspire our staff and is sure to motivate other students. Since graduating in 2020, Helen was hired by RUTH YouthBuild to serve as their Engagement Coordinator. We are so grateful to Helen for sharing her story with us.

• Beauty from the Ashes: A Virtual Community Action Project by Antelope Valley YouthBuild Featured

  On March 18, 2021, YouthBuild Charter School of California's Palmdale site at Antelope Valley YouthBuild hosted a virtual CAP (Community Action Project) called "Beauty from Ashes: A Virtual Empowerment Summit." The event featured several student speakers and talks from community leaders and community partners, as well as a showcase of projects and poetry that the students had worked on throughout the trimester. The focus was on the theme of "beauty from ashes" and overcoming challenges and obstacles. The full event was a little over two hours, so this video is a slightly condensed version of the entire Zoom recording. Shout out to all of the amazing students and staff who worked on this project!
