Students Take Trip to the PGIM Real Estate Office

We are thrilled to announce the great success of our recent field trip to the PGIM Real Estate Office! Students from our sites at Mary B. Henry Academy YouthBuild , Compton YouthBuild and Home Sweet Home YouthBuild had an amazing opportunity to explore the world of real estate and gain valuable insights into the real estate industry. Engaging activities, such as a construction site tour, informative presentations, and interactive discussions, left a lasting impact on their understanding.

At the end of the day, students participated in a case study to help PGIM staff consider whether or not to invest in a prospective real estate development. Two teams of students were selected as winners for their presentations, and won LA Kings tickets.

A huge thank you to PGIM for hosting us! We will have more opportunities like this in the near future and could not have done this without the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment from our staff and students. Check out photos and a video from the trip below. Additional photos can be found on our Facebook page.

The Prudential Foundation has been a partner with YouthBuild USA for over 20 years. Ten years ago, very strategic work began through PGIM (formerly Prudential Investment Management) , their real estate division, to work with a select number of YouthBuild programs throughout the world with a focus of post program placement. YouthBuild Charter School of California was chosen in 2022 as a part of this elite group. The goal of the partnership is to work in tandem with the local PGIM staff to increase the number of successful PSE, employment and apprenticeship placements for YCSC students. Joint planning and implementation of activities include quarterly engagements that explore careers or teach critical life skills, such as successfully managing credit. Other key activities include business mentorships and coaching, and curating relationships with PGIM investment partners interested in internships and hires from the YCSC graduating population. This initiative is facilitated at YCSC by Arianna Simonett, our Community School Coordinator.
