YCSC Statement Against Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

2/26/2021

In accordance with the YCSC mission that "all young people, regardless of their circumstances, have access to an education that will prepare them to counter social inequities," YCSC would like to take this opportunity to formally oppose any and all forms of racism, xenophobia, and intolerance against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Bold progress with respect to this effort was recently made by President Joe Biden. In an official White House Memo that acknowledges that the previous presidential administration encouraged harassment & hate crimes against Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders with its xenophobic rhetoric regarding the Covid-19 virus, the current President is aiming to put an end to the senseless violence against Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders.

The official White House Memo can be found here:

In the spirit of affirming and supporting all of the community based organizations across currently working to support Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders, YCSC would like to encourage all students, staff, parents, and all community stakeholders to come together in not just condemning the surge of these hate crimes but to use our educational capacity to teach others about the dangers of xenophobia and intolerance.

Thank you,

Rudy
