Description
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Inyo County Office of Education Special Education
Department and supervision of the YCSC Special Education Coordinator, the SPED Paraprofessional
Assistant will provide clerical support to the Special Education Department and assist the Special
Education Coordinator to ensure YCSC is complaint with state and federal Special Education Laws.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

1) Assisting with SPED Documentation
• Obtain Present Levels of Performance documentation from Learning Center Specialist
• Assist assessors (i.e. school nurse, academic assessor, school psychologist..etc) in
obtaining assessment paperwork from Learning Center Specialist, site staff, adult
students, and parents
• Input new students into the Special Education database (SEIS)
• Upload student-specific documentation to SEIS (i.e., meeting notices, signature pages,
assessment reports..etc)
• Send out/obtain meeting notices (prior to IEP meetings) from adult students and/or
parents
• Send out/obtain signature pages (post IEP meeting) from professional staff, adult
students, parents, and staff
• Maintain School Pathways and Special Education database (SEIS) with up to date IEP
student information
• Assist with inputting up-to-date IEP information in SEIS
• Supports Progress Report procedures with proactive notification of due dates, procedures
and case load to Special Education Coordinator and Learning Center Specialist
• Ensure IEP files are up-to-date at each school site
• Other SPED documentation-specific duties, as assigned

2) Attending meetings
• Attend all SPED related trainings led/or as requested by Special Education Coordinator
• Attend all YCSC site-wide staff meetings
• Occasionally attend IEP meetings to translate information to parents/adult students (If
Spanish speaking)
• Meet with Special Education Coordinator on an as needed basis and to discuss/go over
weekly duties

Requirements
Educational Qualifications:
1. Candidates must have completed at least two (2) years of study at an institute of higher education or
obtained an associate's degree (or higher) (Documentation will be required.)
2. Skill in operating a personal computer and basic office software, such as the Microsoft Office suite.
Familiarity with School Pathways and SEIS, while not required, considered a plus
3. Knowledge of Special Education Due Process Procedures required.
4. Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
6. Excellent attention to detail.
7. Must have strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
8. Ability to interact positively with parents, students and staff.
9. Experience dealing with students with mild/moderate disabilities
10. Bilingual - Spanish Speaking (a plus)
