For Trimester 2 of the 2024-25 school year, students and staff planned and put on a community block party in Palmdale to better connect with their neighbors.

uh we planned the block party as like a collective essay between all of those students and staff included um Mr levo went around asking a lot of people for their different ideas no matter how small or big they could have been we all just kind of got assigned to our own all games and whatnot that we had to run to make sure the kids had fun and it was just overall a lot of fun um yeah our target audience was like the neighborhood it was having families children our students Community Partners all come together to hang out play some games meet um you know other organizations are in the area our students went to um local businesses went door knocking we promoted it on social media where everybody to be able to come together and just enjoy Saturday evening or afternoon together um just hanging out having fun yeah yeah okay I feel like the block party really impacted the community by bringing them together they gave us different resources it's introduced in a different resources that might help people in need um and actually allows us to Branch out and let other people know started there's a different resources we have and I feel like it just brought a good energy to the community and um yeah hi we're here uh making popcorn um for our community and Wendy will also be doing cotton candy because I had um a lot of chances to meet new people and I also got to do something myself which was face painting and I thought that was really fun because you know I got to talk to the kids while I was doing the face painting and then just seeing the reaction at the end which is totally worth the whole entire thing like it was fun got the cap was very successful this time uh last year or a couple years ago when we did it the attendance was down this year and it's just much bigger that was very successful uh it was good to see everyone uh coming together and bringing about each other we learned about our programs partners and the partners learned about us and our students my favorite part the cap was the face painting and getting to meet the children and just smiling and having fun with them I think my highlight of the block party was seeing how many people can get together you know just like 90 people that's like just around just like how people can get around in general you know like you know like with families you know like you want like um people that we know in general like how nice it can get together and like you know just have a good time with each other and not really worrying about anything in the world just have a good time it up pump
