The YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC) is WASC accredited classroom-based public charter high school, located at local YouthBuild programs, offering young people ages 16-24 the opportunity to work toward their high school diploma while participating in local YouthBuild Programs. YCSC is supported by YouthBuild USA as a part of the organization's effort to continue to improve educational outcomes at YouthBuild programs and build on a growing bank of knowledge about what works in alternative education strategies. Lessons learned at YCSC are shared with the network of YouthBuild programs and schools across the country to build the strength and effectiveness of the network.

Youthbuild Charter School students participate in program governance and leadership activities, and engage in community service and career preparation activities. All students are encouraged to attend post-secondary education and are prepared to meet the academic challenges of higher education. YCSC employs a performance- and competency-based approach to its curriculum and student assessment, using the Diploma Plus system. Diploma Plus offers a rigorous inquiry-driven program. It is driven by contextualized learning and moves students towards competency at their own pace.

Youthbuild Charter School of California currently enrolls students from seven YouthBuild programs:  AV Youthbuild in Palmdale, CCEO Youthbuild in Gardena, EOC Fresno Youthbuild,  LA CAUSA YouthBuild in East Los Angeles, the San Gabriel Valley Conservation Corps and YouthBuild Program in El Monte, Watts Labor Community Action Committee YouthBuild Program in Watts and Save our Futures in West Adams.
